FAREWELL AND WELCOME SOCIAL.

| A large gathering attended the : Congregational Church on Monday i evening last. The object of the gathering was a two-fold one, namely, to offer congratulations to Rev c Mr Mitchell upon his election as chairman of the Congregational Council and also to say farewell to Rev. and Mrs Potts, who are leaving Te Kuiti for Pio Piu. His Worship the Mayor, who occupied the chair, congratulated Mr Mitchell upon the honour which had been conferred upon him, which appointment, he felt sure was well merited. Mr Boddie also spoke eulogistical ly of the good work done byMr Potts during his stay in Te Kuiti and said he was glad that the district was not to lose his services altogether. Speeches were also made by the Rev. Mr Wayne Mr Tacobson and Mr Floyd. Mr Boddie on behalf of the congregation presented Mr and Mrs Potts with a handsome tea and coffee service. Mr Potts thanked the congregation sincerely for their gift and said that it wa3 a complete surprise to both himself and Mrs Potts. During the evening songs were rendered by Misses James and King and Mr Blackman and gramaphone selections were given by Dr Zobel.
