Death on Lonely Isi&nd. [I»Y TKLKKKAI'If. I'IIKSS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, This Day. A pathetic story of a sad tragedy in real life was brought to Auckland by the Government steamer Hinemoa yesterday. Hunter Blair and his wife are caretakers on Little Barrier Island, which is used as a bird sanctuary. They have been on the island for some months. Blair, who was in delicate health, died on Wednesday night, and his wife watched the body for two days in the hope that somebody would call. No one turned up, and on Saturday morning Mrs Blair made preparations for the last offices for the dead. She made a rude coffin out of plankß and boards and dug a grave near the house, into which on Sunday she committed the remains.
