OTOROHANGA.

Own Correspondent. The Otorohanga Brass Band, under the conductorship of Mr Williams, made its first public appearance in the street of the township on Saturday night. Considering that it is barely three months -since the formation of this band, their programme was highly creditable, and the residents assembled in large numbers to listen to the strains of this, the first complete brass band in the Robe Potae. Mr Williams is deserving of much praise for the efficient pitch to which be has brought the players in the short time he has had them in hand, and it can be said, that the resident bandsmen were very fortunate in obtaining locally the services of such a worthy conductor,. After the band performance a concert was held in the Hall, the proceeds of which are to be donated to the domain improvemcont fond. The fallowing is a list of the items:—Overture: piano and violin. Mr Oldbory concluded the concert with several arousing sketches and scenes in Londno. The Concert was admitted to be by those present one of the best heard there, the performers one and all showing dramatic, musical and comic merit of a veey high order, seldom seen in a small community like Otorobanga. It would be invidious to single out any performer for special praise, as all the items were well received and each proved to be an artist in bis own particular part. A dance, which was largely attended followed the concert, thus bringing a very pleasant evening to a fitting conclusion.

The boildingt rade is still very brisk there, and to all appearances it is likely to continue ho for some time, many people intending to build when the weather becomes a little mora settled.
