BRITAIN'S SECRET AIRSHIPS. London, July 7. A private syndicate ,with a capital of £250,000, is being formed to work Dr M. Boyd's airship. With two companions, Dr Boyd crossed the Irish Channel, with the utmost secrecy at night time, last May, at a height of 3500 feet in four hours, the distance being 90 miles, and landed near Belfast, re-crossing the following night. Dr Boyd admits that his airship was the mysterious one reported to have been seen hovering over Caerphilly and Cardiff, Wales, and elsewhere a few months ago.

A strike of 15,000 coalminers has been precipitated in Warwickshire as a result of the application of the Eight Hours' Act. Collisions have occurred between . the strikers and fellow miners, who are anxious for work. RUSSIAN REPRESSION. St. Petersburg-. July 7. Another pogrom —organised massacre, with semi-official sanction —is reported to have taken place in Bessarabia, a province in South West Russia, the victims again being- Jews. COMPULSORY TRAINING London, July 5. In view of the forthcoming debate upon the military vote the War Office has prepared estimates of the cost of compulsory national training. The estimates shew that the system would add £7,320,000 sterling to the existing territorial and special reserve vcte. Belgium is preparing to adopt compulsory universal service. INDIAN UNREST.
