TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held at New Plymouth on November 19th. There were present : The Commissioner, Messrs Connect, Hcslop, Rattenbury, and McCluggagc.

Transfers: The following transfers were approved: - H Worthington to M. C. Lawson, section 13, block XI, Mimi; J. Dromgool to M. Kelly, sections 2!)aud 2, block XV, Ngatimaru; J. Brophy, jun. to E. L. Malone, sections 10 and 11, block" XI, Cape; D, S. Wylic to P. Godinagh, section 1, block VII, Mimi; G. E. Jellyman to T. L. Boxton, sections 1 and 2, block V, Ngatimaru; A. J. Storey to Farmer's Auctioneering Co., Ltd., section 14, block XIII, Ohura; W. T. Seed to J. F. Curtis, sections 90 and 91, block X, Ngaire; J. W. Taunt to F. C. Coxhead, section 68, block XIV, Pouatu; H. Paul to E. Holloway, half-interest in section 11, block I, Aria (subject to papers being in order) ; Langman and Dewar to G. H. Rawlinson, section 1, block 111, Ngatimaru; Ivy G. Gibson to James Risk, section 8, block XIV, Aria; E. Gibson to J. Risk, section 17, block XIV, Aria; A. M. Gill to A. M. and H. Gill, section 11, block 11, rleao; A. Dean to S. Medcalf, section 1, block VIII, Ngatimaru; H. J. Archer to G. E. Andeson, section 11, block VI, Pouatu subject to impovements being found to be complied with. E. Parrot gave notice of intention to acquire the freehold of Bection 16, block 5, Ohura. Resolved that. Mr Tolme be instructed to act as appraiser for this purpose. F. G. Thomas applied for a lease of section 11, block 6, Aria, as an addition to her holding. —Application was approved subject to a vauation by the ranger.

T. W. Brown applied for a lease, of section 15, block 7, Ohura.—Declined. E. S. Jones applied for the freehold of section 30, block 11, Opunake, forfeited at last meeting for non-payment of rent.—Forfeiture rescinded and applicaton for freehold approved. • J. H. Roche applied for a lease of Crown land on the side of the Ohura River opposite his section, No. 3, block 2, Heao. Deferred for Ranger's report.

J. Lorrctt stated that sections 11, 12, and 13, block 9, Kapara, gwere ,'too rough to improve upon, and were useless to him.— Section declared forfeited.

A schedule of tenants still in arrear who had received notice of intention to sue for amounts due was laid on-the table. —Consideration was deferred^jfor a month. ■:. ":

G. Russell applied for the 50 a«res cut off section 21, block 9, Totoro, to be restored to him.--Resolved that as the land is a gazetted reserva- the lipplication could not be entertained. H. T. Twiss, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on the inspection of ings, comprising 12,154 acres. The value of improvements rcqiured was £4134, and of those eflected £8489. One tenant was not residing, and three had not effected sufficient improvements.—Notice to be given to those in default.

The Ranger's report <m Makahu township reserve was read, showing that the forest intended for reserva. tion had been destroyed by order of the dairy factory company.—Resolyed that the authority given in Fepruary, 1905, upon which the bush was cut should be cancelled.

Ballasting operations on the Main Trunk line will be complete bo far aa the main line is concerned, by the end of this month. It will soon afterwards be fit for fast traffic, and provided other necessary arrangements are completed in time, the 19-houv service between Wellington and Auckland "should be inaugurated by the end of the year. There-is still a fair amount of work however, to be done before the central section of the line can b s transferred to the Railway Department. Several station yards have to be ballasted, and in some the platelaying has not been done, wlhile the Horopito and Pokako station buildings have only just been started. It io expected that the line will be handed over in' -a completed state next March.
