Mr Jennings addressed a meeting of electors here on Thursday evening, November sth. Notwithstanding the short notice given by the candidate, there was a fair number present. Mr O'Dwyer presided. Mr Jennings dealt with general and local matters, and clearly set forth his political views. He was given an attentive hearing, and at the conclusion of his speech answered several questions touching on matters of importance to the settlers of this and neighbouring districts. At t.he close of the meeting a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Jennings was carried unanimously.

On Friday evening, Nov. 6th, the annual school concert in aid of children's prizes, was held in the schoolroom, there being a very large number present. The room was tastefully decorated with nikau, ferns and clematis, and things generally were well arranged for the carrying out of the entertainment. The programme opened with a dance, and during the evening the following items were rendered by the scholars and friends Chorus, Scholars; recitation, Albert Churcher; song, MrSincock; Violin and Pianoforte Duet, Misses Churcher; dialogue, "Miller of Mansfieldfi," A. Churcher and Maata; song, MrSmerdon; Recitation, Arthur Kotahi; Cock Robin, Scholars; song. Scholars; recitaton, Mangu Maatu: Violin duet, Mrs Rawstron and Mr Smerdon; song, Mr Fitzpatriek; recitation, Karauria Rauputu; Pianoforte solo, Miss Churhcer; recitation, Norman Rawstron ; song, Mr Anthony; recitation, Mr Bert. Churcher; Violin duet, Mrs Rawstron and MrSmerdon; song, MrSincock; recitation, Mr Smerdon; song, Mr F. Sincock. Several phonographic selections were rendered during the evening, the instrument being kindly lent by Miss Emily Alder. The dance music was all that could be wished for. Dancing was kept up until the early hours of morning, when the company broke up after spending one of the most enjoyable evenings of that kind. Great praise is due to the ladies of the district for the way in which they so liberally supplied and helped with the refreshments. Just before breaking up, Mr Sincock, 011 behalf of the committee, thanked all who had taken part in making the concert a success, and he also thanked Mr Anderson for lending his piano for the entertainment.
