6th I. MOUNTED RIFLES. No. 4 TROOP. The Kaikoura Troop of the 6th I.M.R. was very successful during the squadron camp held at Ward. Their success in the competitions was largely due to the popularity and efficiency of Lieut. R. R. Laidlaw, the efficiency of Sergeant-Major Topp, combined with the splendid team work of the troop. Following are the results:— Alarm Race: Kaikoura 1 and 2. Wrestling on Horseback: Ward 1, Kaikoura.2, Blenheim 3. Tug-o’-war on Horseback: Kaikoura 1, Ward 2, Blenheim 3. Musical Nosebags: Kaikoura, 1,2 and 3. Jumping: Ward 1 and 2, Kaikoura 3. Tent-pegging: Ward 1 and 2, Head quarters 3. Section Turnout: Kaikoura No. 1 1, Kankoura No. 22, Kaikoura Nos 3 and 4 (equal) 3. Troop Turnout Points: Kaikoura 123, Blenheim 64, Ward 32, Rai Valley 21. Shooting Averages: Kaikoura 111.6, Ward 109.5, Blenheim 109.2, Rai Valley 102. The highest individual score was that of Trooper Knox, Kaiikoura, 155 points. The hospitality of the East Coast setlers when the men were on their way to Ward and on returning was greatly appreciated.
