MACKENZIE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Mackenzie School Committee was held on Monday, Septetaber 7. Present: Messrs Walls (Chairman), lyilson, Brown, and Ferguson (Secretary). A letter was read from the Education Board, dealing with the headmaster’.; residence, stating that the Board would like to know what ehnnee there was of selling the property, and what price was likely to be secured. This tion was asked for before the question of removal to another side was considered. It was agreed to leave the matter in the hands of the Secretary to deal with. Regarding a circular from Mr T. Finlay, of the Goodwill Association, Auckland, it was decided tp procure a Goodwill certificate and ask for fuller information about Gohlen Rule Rulers, A circular was received from the Education Board dealing with tree-planting by pupils attending primary schools, the matter being held over until text meeting. ‘ It was decided to seven vol umes of Cassell’s (1 Child-rep’s Book of Knowledge,” the teachers having epnuinented favourably upon -the books. An account for alterations to lavatories was passed on to the Education Board for payment. Accounts amounting to 17/ were passed for payment. Mr Berg was empowered to purchase seeds for the garden, also pine trees to replace those that have died, and also WfflC standard roses. The Headmaster reported the attendances since school re-opened to be: First week, rftll number 99, average attendance 79.3; second week, 99 and 84.6; .third week, 96 and 85.4.
