A statement that the New Zealand Fruit Control Board had decided to take no action in regard to the Agricultural Amendment (Emergency) Bill, Was made by Mr. Ralph Paynter, Chairman of the Board, when speaking at a meeting of fruit growers in Hastings. “The Board has decided to take no action, ’ ’ said Mr. Paynter. ‘ ‘ The big three will have wide powers, hut it is quite possible tha£ some alterations will be made in the committee stages. Personally, I think the fruit-growers would be well advised to leave the matter alone. The hill has not yet passed the committee stage and there is every likelihood of alterations being made to it.”
