A Mentone Press cable of the 26th. February, announces the death of Grand Duke Alexander of Russia, cousin of the late Tsar, and author of 44 Once a Grand Duke."
A Wellington Press Association telegram records the death of Mr William Edward Bidwill, a well-known shea p and cattle breeder and racing man, of Pototawai, Featherston, at the age of seventy-five.
Miss Mary Walsh, Wellington, re turned to Reefton by Saturday evening’s train, and four of her sister arrived from Wellington last evening having come from Nelson by specie car.
The death took place at Christchurch on Friday of Mrs Emma Woods Borjeson at the age of 87 years. The deceased lady was for many years resident on the West Coast, and has several nieces and nephews resident in Greymouth.
The death occurred suddenly at her residence Nelson Street, on Saturday evening of Mre Annie Amelia Johnson, a resident of Greymouth for the past twenty years. The deceased was a native of Tasmania, and is survived by a husband, Mr Joseph Johnson, and two sons and two daughters in Tasmania, whilst Mrs F. Bierwortb, of Greymouth jS also a daughter.
