At the Magistrate’s Court this morning, a resident of the Buller Gorge was charged with indecently assaulting a female, and was remanded until Thursday next to appear at Reefton. Bail was not applied for. The female assaulted was a child.
At the Magistrate’s Court, Hokitika, yesterday, Frederick D. A. Wilder pleaded guilty to being in possession of a firearm and presenting it at Ernest Appleton. The accused was convicted and fined £5 and costs..

The cargo of a steamer which recently discharged at King George V. Dock, on the Thames, included bags containing about two tons of dried- flies. The insects in question are indeed giants, being some four inches in length. They are caught by the million as they settle on the surface of lakes in South America, and are used in England in the manufacture of fertiliser.

Show are elsewhere notified that entries for all the principal classes have been extended until Wednesday evening next, owing to the unfavourable weather preventing the receipt of those from country residents. In addition to the Soorefcary, Mr T. L.- Floyd, entries may also be left at the premises of Messrs W J. Chalk and Co , Broadway. Nominations for the principal event for the sports meeting also close at the same time.
