Reef ton District High School Committee
The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Friday, 6th instant, at 8 p.m. Present Messrs W. B. Auld (chair), H, Walsleben (secy), W. J. Duff, D. Panckhurst, J. Patterson, C. H. Cleaver, Rev Brickland, The minutes ot the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Outward correspondence was approved and inward correspondence received. Proposed by Rev Brickland, seconded by Mr Cleaver and carried that the annual picnic be held at Hokitika this season, and that the Secretary complete the necessary Railway Department’s forms. Mr Panckhurst reported that he considered it inadvisable to place the giaut stride in a concrete base : and it was resolved that the matter ol teplacemeut he left In his hands.

The Proficiency examination was held on 20th inst, but results have not yet come to hand. In the Secondary Department \ Public Service Entrance and Matriculation examinations are now proceeding. Secondary pupils and parents are urged to do their utmost to keep up the attendance to the end of the year. During the month Mr Johnston, Agricultural Inspector, visited the ■ school and reported favourably upon the work being done in the school garden. The Sports accounts show an aggregate credit balance of .£"l4 7s left after payment of accounts due, and purchase of cricket material to the value of £"10 11s. Proposed by Mr Auld, seconded by Mr Duff and carried that Messrs Panckhurst and Patterson with the Headmaster, interview Mr Cereseto with a view to obtaining a picture benefit to assist in providing Sports prizes, Dux Medals, etc. Resolutions as follows were carried : That the Headmaster’s suggestion to hold a School Sports Meeting on Wednesday, 18th inst, in lieu of a break up concert be adopted. That the Committee accede to the request of the staff to conduct Tea Rooms with the assistance of senior girls. That the Headmaster ask the children to arrange with their parents for providing a basket for the Tea Rooms, the Committee to provide sandwiches ; that the charge for afternoon tea be 9d, and for admission to ground ; adults Is, children free. That Dux Medals be arranged for. That the Chairman and Headmaster interview the Manager of the Inangahua Times regarding the printing of Term Honour Lists. That consideration of a Scholars’ 1 Honours Board be deferred to aJ ' future meeting. ’ « That the Secretary arrange with !' the school cleaner for a comprehen- j, sive cleaning (including windows) and j, disinfecting, during January, and that . n the Board be asked 10 forward a tin or a drum of disinfectant if same is ti available. i Proposed by Mr Patterson, * seconded by Mr Panckhurst. and r carried that the Board be notified that the Committee considers that ils quarterly allowance is insufficient for t the proper carrying out of all its t obligations, and that an increased t amount be asked for. r The visiting Committee for the 11 ensuing month will be Messrs Auld * and Brickland. ® Accounts for lighting and cleaning * were passed payment, and the meeting closed^
