Alleged Poisoning at Napier
(By Telegraph — Press Association). Napier, June 9. The hearing of the charge preferred against Walier Find lay of attempting the a 'ministration of poison (verdigris) to his infanfc child, occupied tne Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon. The Crown Prosecutor conducted the case. The evidence of Elizabeth Murphy, nurfe, was to the effect that in tho kitchen after tea on the evening of May 25th, she saw accused with a liu of preserved mi k (from which the baby had just been fed) in his hand. Ho appeared to be stirring something into it. On seeing the our?e he started as though he did no 1 ; want to be seen. On examining tho tin a few minu f es later, Mrs Murphy saw streaks of a green substances' in the milk. She called Dr Moore's attention to thie, who in turn informed the police. On being arresfctd accused became hysterical, and denied his guilt. The hearing will be continued to-day.
