KEREPEHI FACTORY
MOST MODERN PLANT CASEIN-CHEESE MAKING OPERATE EARLY IN SPRING A good deal cf interest is being evinced in the Hauraki Plains area in the (erection at Kerepehi by the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co. Ltd. of a modern dairy factory which, while intended for the manufacture of casein, is also designed for cheese -making. The general manager of the company, Mr H. Davey, in a statement to the Gazette said that in order to provide for future development in supply within -range of the factory, it was being so constructed as to permit of its being readily extended as and when such a step became necessary. In keeping with the latest dairy practice the plant to be installed would be the most up-to-date obtainable. It was fully expected that the factory would be ready to handle supply early in the spring.
DUe to various reasons suppliers on the Hauraki Plains appeared to be showing an increasing desire each year to go out of pig raising and as a result some of the company’s cheese
factories in that part of the territory were becoming taxed to capacity. The new factory would relieve the position considerably. The site on which the factory was being built was eminently suitably for the purpose and when the whole scheme was completed, including the provision of cottages for the staff, the project would be a decided acquisition to the district, concluded Mr Davey.
