SEVEN RESIGN

HOSPITAL NURSES DIFFICULTY IN REPLACING Seven nurses tendered their resignations at the February meeting of the Thames Hospital Board. Two nurses at the Paeroa hospital, Misses H. Boyce and H. C. Humphreys, proposed to take up Plunket training in the near future and wished to be relieved of their duties at the end of June next.

Misses E. R. Tuckey, M. J. Rutherfurd, E. C. F. McQuillan, C. J. Twentyman and X A. Hilford, all on the nursing staff of the Thames' hospital, tendered their resignations to the board.

The chairman, Mr. J. W. Daney, moved that the resignations of Misses Boyce and Humphreys be accepted with regret and a resolution was accordingly carried. Mr. J. W. Neate mentioned that 33 nurses had resigned in a body at Waikato hospital. There must be a reason behind such a happening said Mr. Neate.

The board’s secretary, Mr A. L. Neighbour, assured members that there was nothing behind the resignations at all. Each nurse had particular personal reasons for desiring to leave the Thames district. The chairman moved that the resignations of the five nurses of the Thames hospital be accepted with regret and the motion was duly carried. A discussion then ensued as tor the board advertising in order to try and replace the nurses resigning and the secretary was instructed to advertise for nurses
