IMPORTANT WORK
ASSOCIATION’S HELP SHOULD AFFILIATE CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE At the July meeting of the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce the secretary of the chamber, Mr J. H. Bartlett, raised the question of affiliating with the Associated Chambers of Commerce.
The Paeroa Chamber of Commerce was not affiliated, said Mr* Bartlett, who went on to say that a most important work was being done by the association which was handling every class of business matter. Most of the country chambers had joined up. The speaker suggested that the chamber should consider the matter of affiliation and should invite Mr H. E. Schofield of Matamata to address the chamber on the advantages of affiliation.
Mr B. A. Gwilliam expressed the opinion that the Paeroa chamber should affiliate and he moved a resolution to that effect.
The president, Mr A. C. Boulton, thought that the proper course for the chamber to take before passing any resolution to affiliate would be to invite Mr Schofield to address the members.
Mr Gwilliam thereupon amended his motion to read that the chamber consider the question of affiliation and invite Mr Schofield to address the next meeting of the chamber. The motion was carried unanimously.
