STAFF SHORTAGE
EIGHT RESIGNATIONS THAMES DISTRICT HOSPITALS Staffing problems at hospitals under the jurisdiction of the Thames Hospital 'Board were accentuated by the receipt of eight resignations at the February meeting of the board. Four of these resignations were from sisters, three from nurses and one from a nursing aid at the physiotherapy department. “ This is a very disappointing and discouraging list,” said the chairman, Mr J. W. Danby. “ And it is a definite loss to this board.’” “ It’s the worst we have had for a long time,” added Mr C. W. Parfitt. “I do not know that anything can be done. We are doing everything we can along the lines of making provisions in different ways,” added Mr Danby. Most of the nurses were leaving to better their positions and there seemed little else the board could do to alter the situation. He' moved that the resignations be accepted and the sisters and nurses thanked for their services. The resignations from the Thames Hospital were from Misses E. R. Tuckey, M. I. O’Dea, H. M. Whyte, D. M. Woolmore, and M. Burford; from Whitianga, Miss L. E. M. Lochore, and from Waihi Misses B. A. Jesson and JL. Cornish.
