GRAND BALL

GOOD ATTENDANCE JUNIOR NATIONALISTS GATHERING AT KEREPEHI Many young enthusiasts from all parts of the Hauraki electorate travelled to Kerepehi on Monday evening, January 31, to attend fhe Junior National Centre’s grand ball. Mr G. Townshend, president of the centre, extended a welcome to all and expressed the wish that everyone would have an enjoyable evening. He also thanked members for their help and co-operation in making the evening such a success. Many of their supporters had travelled long distances to attend the ball and senior members who were present were thrilled to see how enthusiastic the young ones were to take part in the social life of their electorate.

The hall had been beautifully decorated with ferns and hydrangeas, vases of dahlias and gladioli making an attractive setting on the stage for Herb Walker’s orchestra. Messrs B. Benny and E. Smith supplied the extras. Mr E. Quinn was M.C. Miss Shirley Gardner and partner won the Monte Carlo and Miss K. Jackson and partner the spot waltz. A delicious supper of wild pork, savouries, etc., was served by members of each Junior National club in the centre. Vases of sweet peas and maidenhair fern graced the supper table.
