FEDERATED FARMERS
(To the Editor) Sir, —I have read with great interest statements in your paper by Mr J. Silcock and Mr S. E. Hall concerning Federated Farmers, and would like to express my views on the contents of both, articles. Firstly, I know both writers are striving for the one objective and that is one big federation in complete harmony. The main point in both statements is the agreement made between the Auckland and Wellington delegates who met in Wellington a few weeks ago. The difference of opinions between the two statements is that Mr Silcock thinks that the contents of that agreement made in Wellington should have been discussed and ratified by the Auckland conference, and not amended and eventually passed with members of the executive voting against it. We all must agree that when we appoint men to represent in vital parts of our organisations we must be behind them and honour their work. If we do not we then become agitators and persons with honour and ability who speak their minds will not be found in our ranks. In regard to the matter having been taken in committee, the contents of the argument has never been mentioned, therefore any argument of having been in committee must be eliminated. In conclusion I would like to say that it is far from my thoughts or intentions to cause trouble or to antagonise any person or part of the organisation, but I do wish to stress the urgent need for all to sink their differences, broaden their outlooks, and to work together in one big federation.—Yours, etc., Tirohia. C. G. JACKSON.
