FAREWELL DANCE
FUNCTION AT COLVILLE PTE. F. MCDONALD HONOURED On Saturday evening, residents of Colville gathered in the Colville Public Hall to bid adieu to Pte. F. McDonald, R.N.Z.A.F., elder son of Mr and, Mrs H. McDonald, Colville, and spent a very pleasant time. A supper cloth, donated by Mrs Forsman, was won by Jill Evans and a Monte' Carlo waltz by Mrs W. Evans andl Mr Edlgar Bridle. During an interval between the dances, Miss Hope Longden sang ‘‘River of Roses” and “Pair of Silver Wings,” adding to the pleasure of the evening. On behalf of the Colville Patriotic Committee, Mrs Nicholas Ward presented Pte. McDonald with a money belt, while Mrs R. S. Goudie made a similar gesture with a leather wallet on the Women’s Division behalf. Both ladies made a fitting speech and wished him a safe and speedy return. Pte. McDonald suitably replied. The lusty singing of “For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow,” and a refreshing supper brought the evening to a close.
