USE NO MANURE
FARMERS’ UNION PROPOSAL
STRAIGHT SUPER WANTED
That the Auckland executive organise a campaign among farmers urging that they refuse to buy topdressing until such time as the Government gives them the right to buy straight superphosphate, was a remit from the Colville branch discussed at Tuesday’s meeting held in Paeroa of the Northern Thames SubProvincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’- Union.
The chairman, Mr S. E. Hall, said it was possible to get straight super at present. Mr* H. S. Curtis of Colville said all farmers wanted to buy straight super and would be only too pleased to support the union in such a campaign. This would result in more support for the union in other matters. The motion was lost on a vote being taken.
Other speakers urged that every farmer should put on all the manure possible and keep up production until after the war. After the war was the time to ask for such treatment.
