PAEROA COMMITTEE MEETS EPIDEMIC AMONG THE PUPILS The September meeting of the Paeroa District High School Committee was held in the Primary 'School on Monday night, the chairman, Mr C. C. Webb, presiding. Others present were Messrs J. Walmsley, A. O. H. Allison, H. Follas, S. Oliver, B. Roberts, F. Thorp, T. I. Jenkins, the secretary, Mr S. Wheeler and the headl- - Mr A. E. Day. It was decided to write to Mr H. Shaw asking him to clean up the debris under the pine trees in the horse paddbck. The Auckland Education Board wrote stating that they had received a letter from the Education Department, Wellington, acknowledging the receipt of a copy of a letter sent by the committee on the subject of cumulative record cards. The Education Department advised that the card was being revised and the committee’s views would receive consideration wheri the final draft was being passed for'printing. Accounts totalling £53 Os 8d were passed for payment. It was agreed to ask the Education Bogrd to paint the buildings at the primary school. The headmaster, Mr A. E. Day, reported that the respective rolls were 448 and 76, the corresponding averages being ' 484 and 73. Epidemics of whooping cough and chicken pox were prevalent.

The report added: — “Miss A. McKenzie, having become a meningitis contact on Monday, September 4, has been quarantined until Friday, September 15, a week from now.

“‘The secondary department arts and crafts is asking for a spinning wheel and, a Ghinese loom. "The motor, mower has broken 4forwn completely."

It was decided/ to return the mower to the agent.

Messrs Follas and Roberts were appointed a visiting committee for ibet ensuing month.
