COROMANDEL INSTITUTE AN APPEAL FOR CLOTHES RESULTS OF THE COMPETITIONS The September meeting of the Coromandel Women’s Institute was held in the,, Oddfellows’ Hall on Wednesday, September 1. The president, Mrs D. Strongman, presided over a very good attendance of members. The meeting opened with the Institute ’Prayer. Members were asked to bring to the next meeting some warm garment for the women of Greece and Crete 'so that they might be forwarded on in readiness to be sent at the first opportunity. The president gave a most interesting and comprehensive report on the Institute Dominion Conference held 1 recently at Gisborne which she had attended as delegate from Coromandel. A hearty vote of thanks by acclamation was carried for the report. An appeal for donations and gifts for the Makogai lepers was received and members were asked to hand in their gifts or contributions at next meeting as in former years. The month’s motto was, “In sharing other people’s troubles, our own are less hard to bear.” The roll call was well answered, being “Something I have learned by attending Institute.” Many useful lessons were enumerated.
