PIPIROA FAREWELL
TO MR & MRS W. GANLEY JNR. PRESENTATION FROM SETTLERS There was a large crowd present rat the Psiroa Hall on Thursday evening last, to farewell Mr and Mrs W. Ganley, Jnr. The evening was spent in dancing, the music being supplied by the ever-popular “Bill” Cooper. The winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss Mary O’Neil and Mr Conor
Keane. . . After supper had been served Mr Keyes, M.C., called on Mr C. W. Parfitt to make the presentation on behalf of the Pipiroa residents. Mr Parfitt said it was with a feeling of real regret that the residents had gathered there to farewell Mr and Mrs Ganley and he was certain that they Would be greatly missed by everyone. • He said that he was sure that if “Bill,” as Mr Ganley was known to all of us, had left one enemy in the district it would not be his fault. Mr Parfitt" then called on Mr Ganley to accept a beautiful walnut china cabinet expressing the hope ' that Mr and Mrs Ganley would long be spared to enjoy a happy and fruitful' life. . Mr Keyes then made a presentation of an electric toaster from the tennis club, stressing how, when the club had lost both their captain and secretary, Mrs Ganley had filled these positions so ably. Mr Ganley, on rising to reply, was greeted with rounds of applause and musical honours. He said it was with real regret that he and Mrs Ganley were leaving the district and that they both appreciated the kindness and generosity of the people of Pipiroa and sincerely thanked one and all for their presence there and for the gifts they had given them. Dancing continued until midnight and “Auld Lang Syne” brought a happy evening to a close.
