WORSE THAN MAORI PA

DOG NUISANCE IN WAIHI “FIELD DAY” TO BE STAGED Reference to the dog nuisance in Waihi streets was made by Mr S. M. Hovell at the monthly meeting of the Waihi Borough Council on Wednesday evening. Mr Hovell said motorcars and cyclists were chased, and with the. number of dogs running about and barking it was getting worse than a Maori pa. Were all the animals registered? he wanted to know. “ It is a disgrace,” observed Mr J. J. Callaghan, in endorsing the remarks.

■ The inspector, Mr J. Spence, said the only thing to do was to have a “field day” and collect all dqgs without collars for the current licensing year. There were doubtless dogs that were registered and did not wear collar,s but if they were collected too it could not be helped as the onus was on the owner to see that collars were ‘worn.
