NO SENIOR FOOTBALL
DECISION IN TE AROHA
JUNIOR AND THIRD GRADE ONLY
“In determining the policy of this union for the ensuing year we must face up to the position of every man over 20 years of age eligible for overseas or territorial service being called to the colours at some time or other during the approaching rugby season. The prospect of conducting a senior competition must therefore be ruled out for the duration of the war, but it is up to us old players to see that the union functions and the organisation is maintained in order that so many of our young and promising players serving overseas may follow on where they left off, on their return,” said Mr R. A. Wilcox, newlyelected president of the Te Aroha Rugby Sub-Union, at the annual meeting held last Thursday evening.
On the motion of Mr W. Keleher a resolution that only junior and third-grade competitions be played this season, was carried unanimously.
