SOCIAL NOTES
The monthly card evening in aid of the Anglican Church funds was held in Montgomery’s tea-rooms, Ngatea, on Wednesday. There was a large attendance of players. Mrs Williams and Mr. S. Montgomery were the winners.
An enjoyable bridge afternoon was given by Mrs. G. Gamble at her residence on Wednesday afternoon. Miss Audrey Argali won the first prize and Mrs. R. Swann the hidden number. The purpose of the gathering was to stock the sweet stall of the Rose Show which is being held to-day.
Miss Ngaire Adams, who leaves Paeroa shortly, was the guest of honour at a delightful party on Wednesday evening, when the Paeroa Girls’ Bridge Club met at Miss Leila Thorp’s home. Bridge was played in the drawing room, the prize being won' by Mrs. J. H. Bartlett. After supper Miss Thorp presented Miss Adams with a handsome pair of china bookends with best wishes from the club. Others present were: Mrs. F. C. Bucket, Miss Ruby Tierney, Miss Lonan Poland, Miss Glenise Adams, Miss Nora Ellerington, Nurse Jamieson, Miss Lucy Real, and Misses Margaret and Joan Nicholas.
