HUNTLY BOROUGH COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING. The above was held on Tuesday night when there were present, the Mayor, Mr. W. C. E. George, and Crs. T. Hall, T. Chilsholm, W. Parkes, J. C. Harrison, H. J. R. Sheeran, and Mr C. Hay-Chapman, town clerk. Cr. Kosoof was granted leave of absence owing to illness. Art Union. In response to a request from the Plunkct Society that body was granted permission to draw its Art Union at the pictures on Wednesday, December 2nd. R. and C. Association. A letter was received from Ratepayers’ and Citizens’ Association bringing under the notice of the council certain resolutions passed at a meeting of the Association. The letter was discussed and it was resolved to inform the Association that is proposals would receive attention in due course. Statement of Accounts. The Sunshine League forwarded a statement of accounts in connection with its social in aid of distress in the district at which a substantial amount had been cleared. Bowling Green. A deputation from the Bowling Club waited on the council in reference to the proposed new green in the Domain. The Mayor informed the deputation that the Minister of Lands had consented to the lease and that the document was being prepared. After some discussion the deputation thanked the council and withdrew. Resolved to notify the club when the ground was levelled off and ready for occupation. Working Foreman. There were 46 applicants for the position of working foreman, and Mr V. Graham, of Auckland, was appointed. He enters into his new duties on the 23rd inst.
