The Auckland Education Board wrote pointing out that they had acquired a section on the west side of the river, to which they wished to remove the school. They were of opinion, however, that it would not be safe for children to use the present bridge, and they therefore called on the Town Board to see to the erection of a footbridge attached to the present bridge. It was pointed out that the Board had no jurisdication in the matter, the bridge being the property of the Railway Dept., and also that the railway traffic over the bridge did not at present constitute such a danger as to make the erection of the footway imperative.
