A GOOD RUN

YACHT’S TRIP TO WELLINGTON. (Per Press Association —Copyright). WELLINGTON, December 2. The yacht Rover j which left Auckland on November 23, arrived at Wellington this morning. She wa s becalmea on several occasions, once for the better part of two days. She s:ruck really rough weather only a few miles off Wellington Heads. The best day's run was 150 miles on the stretch between Gisborne and Capo Turnagain, but there the wind failed. The crew had to make a spinnaker boom out of the oars and a plank and while improvising a member fell overboard. Off Cape Turnagain they caught an albicore, rather a rare fish with unusual side fins. They always had plenty of fish, and only had to put a line over the side when they wanted them.

While fishing off Pallisei Light they signalled to the keeper and asked him to report them, but they were still there next morning. Here a shark robbed them of some fish. They had two kahawai and two barracuta hanging over the side, and a shark got them. They drifted till they got a light south-easterly. Off Turakirae they struck a had tide rip and it bpgan to blow, increasing so that they had to shorten sail till they were under the foresail alone. One big sea broke over them and there wa s six inches of water in the cabin, and crockery was broken. The harbour was beaten into under engine and sail. At no time did.the craft igive-ihem. the slight^.assist^ ecs .
