The match between the Gentlemen and Australia was resumed in ane, warm weather. The Gentlemen, iu their first in!ij i ii*k,,cV, 301. Australia in their second innings made 180 for two wickets at stumps. Wyatt was out to an easy catch after a; strange mixture of confidence and uncertainty.
Hammonu was dismissed after playing a surprisingly weak stroke. Courageous and intelligent batting by Yard ley and Valentine restored the Gentlemen’s failing fortunes and splendid batting by blown saved a follow on. He bit with enormous power and reached eighty-eight in an hour. Australia re-opened at 4.5 p.m.
Fingleton score.d twice as fast as brown, who appeared to be under the impression that lie was still saving th 4 test. Fingleton reached an exceptionally fast hundred in 125 minutes, after remaining on ninety-nine for ten minutes. He was caught in the slips just before stumps.
