WELLINGTON, November 9.

Wiliam Ludlow, a labourer, pleaded guilty to tampering with a meter, with the intent to defraud the City Council ; also to stealing electricity valued at 2s lid. He was placed on probation for 12 months. The Magistrate remarked that if such offences continued he would have to consider a term in prison. It was stated on behalf of the City Council that quite a long list of people were under suspicion.
