A HUGE DEFICIT
SHOWN IN BANKRUPT ESTATE. SYDNEY SOLICITOR’S SUICIDE. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY. August 17. Air Claude Roach. Trustee in Bankruptcy, presenting his report to a meeting of the creditors in the estate of the late Arthur Davies, solicitor, who committed suicide recently, disclosed a deficiency of approximately fifty thousands pounds. Davies’ affairs were in a. terrible state. No books were kept. There was not even a trust cash book or ledger. The only records of the bankrupt’s transactions were cheque butts. ■ " Air Roach described this bankruptcy as. being one of the worst of its kind. It was a perfect example, lie said, of what the law here allows. It does not even require that a peson handling trust funds shall keep proper books.
