CANBERRA, December 4

An announcement that a Royal Commission will be set “up to inquire into petrol and oil profits 'in Australia is expected t 0 result from the Federal Cabin/et’s consideration of a report by the Department on the oil companies' operations. One allegation in th e report is said to b e that some of the companies derive a profit of ninepence per gallon on petrol.

The Deputy-Leade.r of the Country Party stated .in the House that one company had escaped taxation to the extent of three hundred and sixty thousand pounds over a period of years.
