REFEREE KNOCKED OUT,

PLAYER OBJECTS TO RULING!

NEW PLYMOUTH, June 8,

Referee K. Nodder was carried off the neld unconscious m a senior mgby competition match between Otako and Takaapu, at Otako yesterday. He was knocked out by an angry player, who disagreed with his rulings. Ine match was abandoned with Okato leading by six to three, and with Tukaapa attacking strenuously. Feeling were running high and the Okato suporters were disagreeing with the referee’s rulings. According to the referee, the climax was that he ordered G. Robuck off the field for persistent “cheek.” Roebuck’s brother, E. Roebuck, then came up, and, it is alleged, used bad language. The referee ordered him off also and he replied with a left hooded swing to the jaw, which stitched the referee .on -the ground unconscious.

Roebuck Walked immediately to the dressing shed, and those in control declared the game off. The referee soon recovered consciousness,
