ASSASSINATION
OF GERMAN AMBASSADOR
[United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.]
LISBON, June 7. While Albert Von Galigand, German Ambassador to Portugal, was visiting the cruiser “Konigsberg,” a German several times shot him with a revolver, as a result of which Galigand died. Subsequently the police arrested Franz Vchoksky, aged 39, of Danzig. He is believed to be insane. He denied being in communication with Moscow, despite the fact that incriminating telegrams were found in his pocket. He was charged in 1927 with forging passports, and lie now declares that Hie assassination was actuated by a desire for revenge on a British, German or American diplomat, these countries being responsible for his prosecution.
