WIRELESS FOR MENTAL HOSPITAL

PLANT DECIDED UPON,

A meeting of the Committee organising the fund for wireless for the Hokitika Mental Hospital met yesterday afternoon. Present:—Revd. .1. W. Hayward (Chairman), Miss Knight. Messrs T. W. Bruce and I). J. Evans. Offers for radio installation at the institution was received from the National Electrical and Engineering C'oy.. Ltd.. Christchurch (Messrs Too bey’s Motors Ltd., agents), Tomlinson and Gifford, Hokitika, and is. \Y. Jleenan, Hokitika. The tenders were considered in detail. The prices ranged from COO up to £9O. After a full consultation, it was resolved to accept the tender of the National Electric Coy. for a Brilish Eada. 5-valve neutrot-civet's with all equipment, including three British loud Mpeakers of the Thomson Houston type, for £O7 installed to satisfaction as to daylight reception from Australia. The Company in making its offer stated that by way of contribution to the radio installation, tho actual machine was given free. Its value was £35. Ibo Company added they were also supplying the equipment below cost realising the advertising value of the installation. The same Company bad installed equipment in other mental and public hospitals in the Dominion and guaranteed effective installation. It was resolved to thank the other tenderers both of whom had made attractive offers and reductions in price because of the special purpose in mind. SACRED CONCERT.

For the sacred concert at the Princess Theatre to-morrow night the following programme was submitted by the Hokitika Municipal Band.:— March. “Chef d’Oeuvre,” (Bulch). Fantasia, “Normanhnrst,” (Greenwood). Sacred Solo. “The Rosary,” (Xevm) Mr L. Ross. Anthem. “11l A .sod Anthem,” (Jones). Choral, (a) Anthem, “Jerusalem, my Glorious Home;” <b) Sacred Selection. Presbyterian Church Choir. Selection, “Overturiana.” (Somers). Hymnals, (a) “Sandon.” (Purdy); (h) “Eternal Father.” (Dykes). A larch, “Fernando.” (Greenwood). National Anthem.

The Theatre doors will open at 8 o’clock and the concert will begin at 8.15 o’clock. A silver coin collection will be taken up at the doors. FINANCE.
