beet sugar industry. RUGBY, Aug. 12. The annual figures just compiled by tlie Ministry of Agriculture show a reduction in the acreage under crops and grass in Britain and in the number ot horses, but an increase in cattle, sheep and pigs. Forecasts based on conditions which prevailed at the beginning of this month anticipate an increase in the wheat crops, but a decrease in barley and oats compared with last year. A further increase in the acreage of sugar beet is recorded. The total is 221.700 acres larger than in 1926. and fully four times that of 192-5.
