POL LAS. 3 S PICTURES. A double star programme will be presented on Monday. Anita Stewart, one of America’s most popular players will be featured on Monday next, in a Big First National Attraction entitled “The Fighting Shepherdess,” a picture which the critics say equals her lost big production “In Old Kentucky.” ‘The Fighting Shepherdess’ presents the trials and tribulations that Anita Stewart, in the title roles, goes through, but this girl is no usual, everyday characer, and determination to succeed against all odds carries her through a victory to the end. The picture might well be reckoned among the principal film achievements of the year; it has everything that goes to make a screen success. The story and role exactly suit Anita Stewart, who essays something different in thin picture, and is entirely successful. You liked “In Old Kentucky”—well, it is no exaggeration to say that this is as good, if not better. Anita Stewart is bigger, brighter, bettor than ever as Tvato, the “Fifihtinff Shepherdess.” Perhaps the reason is that the story is a woman’s, written bv a woman, about a woman.

The second star is another fine drama starring Olive Thomas in “Footlights and Shadows,” a story of love and a latch key. The “inside story” ot a Broadway beauty and a “Follies” favourite. A peep behind the scenes of the “Midnight Revue.” “Footlights and Shadows” was written and made to order specially for Olive Thomas. In addition to being the “Harrison Fisher Girl” she first met fame as a Ziegfeld “Follies” beauty, and the role of Gloria Dawn takes her back to her former part in the “Midnight Revue.” Gorgeous scenes, costly gowns, thrilling situations, and lovely Olive Thomas.
