Incomplete returns place the majority in favour of Government control of the sale of liquor at upwards of 30,000. Women went in large numbers to the polls and are held mainly responsible for the decisiveness of the result. With few exceptions both cities and country districts gave a majority for Government control. CLUB QUARREL SEQUEL. NEW YORJv, Nove nber 3. Air John J. AlcGraw, manager and part-owner of the New York National League Baseball Club, lias been indicted by the Federal Grand Jury for having a bottle of whisky in his nossessi n. Mrs Asquith’s famous book of reminiscences was abviously meant in a question by General Sir Newton Moore to the Prime Minister, asking whether the latter’s attention had been drawn to the fact that certain volumes just published contained copies of secret ■State documents, and whether he proposed to take steps to prevent further disclosures in the future, Mir Lloyd George replied that he had not read the works referred to, but it was an obligation on Ministers Admirals and Generals not to disclose confidential statements without the previous consent of the Government.
