AIL SAINTS MEMORIAL CHURCH

Following on the recent meeting of

Parishioners of All Saints Church, which endorsed the proposals first made two years ago to commence a new Church as a War Memorial, a meeting of the ladies of the congregation, and also of the Church Committee, has been held this week to consider practical means of forming a strong Building Fund. The Committee is issuing a circular letter to the church members of Hokitika asking them for promises of an* annual sum to he extended over five years, or if it' is vso preferred for a straight out donation. Tsy this means the Committee hopes to raise a minimum guarantee of £ISOO, and witn this assured, to meet in July, the Bishop of the Diocese and ail architect who has been approached and discuss plans and building material, and formulate a definite scheme. There was a well-attended meeting of the ladies who discussed the matter <" annual Sale of Work. It was decided to hold a Fete in the Drill Shed on Wednesday, September 10th. A Gift Social and entertainment has been arranged for Wednesday April 30th. (the second Wednesday after Easter). Pro inises were received for the formation of several ladies’ working parties. The Ladies Guild wish it to be known that they are prepared to make garments to order at any time. It was resolved to hold a series of popular entertainments during the winter months. Altogether much enthusiasm was shown, and the church members generally arc hopeful with regard to the new church.
