MAKING NO PROGRESS
(Received This Day s 'at 12.10. a.m.) IXTNDOX, July 10.
Router’s correspondent at American headquarters writing on tire 16th reports the whole battlefield indicates, except in a few minor localities that the offensive has hitherto been a complete failure. New prisoners are saying .they are convinced they are beaten. •
An enemy carrier pigeon was captured oast of Chateau Thierry with a message saving the situation was serious and there was no chance of making further progress in that locality., * East of Rheims, early tins morning, we are not only holding up the enemy attempts to advance, hut' appear to have broken their spirit. At one plat here, our counter-attack drove the enemy from a salient in the region of Fossov. We .improved our positions at night and drove the enemy across the river, taking prisoners.
