RIVERLEA.
QUEEN CARNIVAL
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The Queen Carnival for the purpose of raising funds for improvements to the Riverlea Hall has now been safely launched, and a ball in aid of the West End Queen, Miss Ollie Symes, which was held on Wednesday evening, proved a most successful function. The committee had arrangements well in hand, and the hall was beautifully decorated with ferns, flowers, and coloured streamers. An excellent supper, provided by the West End ladies, was put on, and was heartily partaken of by all present. The music was provided by Messrs Parkinson and Riley (2). There was a large attendance, "but unfortunately the inclement weather kept many away, otherwise no doubt there would have been as great a crowd as at the recent bachelors' ball.
On Wednesday next a dance is to be held in aid of the East End Queen, Miss Elsie Hey, and with the enthusiastic committee working on her behalf an excellent evening's entertainment is to be expected. The hall is to be again nicely decorated, excellent music will be provided, and a good supper is assured, so no doubt there will again be a large attendance.
