WELLINGTON, Oe£, 18. Hugh Alexander Perkins, a <&ngle man, aged 34, formerly a captain in ifne Expeditionary Force, was drowned V* the Waimakariri, near Stewart's Gul!y> Kaiapoi. Perkins, who belongs to Christchurch. was spending the fishing season in Stewart's Gully. While walking in single,file across the railway bridge with two companions he evidently slipped on the wet planking and "jj^apj^ared.
