WEEKLY SITTING
, The weekly sitting of the Hawera Magistrate's Court was held to-day , Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., presiding. CHARGE OF THEFT. William Ranui, a native youth, was charged with, the theft of a woollen rug valued at £4, the property of Michael Fahey. Sergeant Henry, who prosecuted, said that the rug had been recovered hidden in some creepers. Nothing was previously known against the defendant except that he was addicted to drink. A fine of £5 was imposed. BY-LAW CASE. William Austin Lee, who was charged with leaving a motor-car standing in the street at night without lights, was fined 10s and 7s costs. | BY DEFAULT. ! Judgment for the plaintiff, with costs against the defendant, was given in each of the following undefended civil cases: Kaupokonui Dairy Co. v. P. Smythe, £12 10s lid; Para Rubber Co. v. W. Drinkwater, £2 6s; Commissioner of Taxes v. M. H. Kendall; £4 0s Id; Edward Taylor v. Harata Pullen, £14 17s 6d;.L. S. Poison v. H James, £6 18s 3d; Robert Tait v. Moho Robin son, £1 0s 6d; A. H. Shaw v. Ben Walden, £11 11s 9d; P. M. Pratt v. |S. Langley, £35 4s; Goldstone and Patterson V. M. Storey, £5 17s lOd. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. Orders were made in the following judgment summons cases: Bennett and Sutton v. Kato Luke, £31 3s Id, in default thirty days' imprisonment; A. H. Shaw v. Alf Parkes, £22 16s 6d, in default twenty-two days* imprisonment In favour of the plaintiff, Hugh Rodger, a judgment against Jack Miles j was varied so that a debt of £13 15s could be paid in fortnightly instalments ,of 10s. |
