HAWERA POST OFFICE.

TO BE CONSTITUTED A LEDGER

OFFICE.

IMPORTANT TO DEPOSITORS.

The Post Office Savings Bank Office at Hawera is to be constituted a ledger office from October 1, 1923. At present depositors are required, to give such notice of a withdrawal from their accounts as will allow sufficient time for the authority of the chief office. New Plymouth, being obtained for the payment. Under the system to be introduced a withdrawal may be made without notice. A depositor presenting his or her pass book and signing the required withdrawal receipt will receive cash over the counter. The system will chiefly benefit depositors living in Hawera and those living in the nearby towns who do their business in Hawera, and can readily attend at that office to transact their Post Office Savings Bank business. If, for instance, a depositor is living at Manaia or Normanby, or Okaiawa, and is doubtful whether he would benefit by changing his account from New Plymouth to Hawera, he should consider whether he is likely to requke withdrawals paid at Munaia or Normanby or Okaiawa. _. If there is such likelihood he should not transfer his account from New Plymouth, because by changing to Hawera he may also make withdrawals at that office and not at any other office in the New Plymouth postal district.

It remains optional with depositors whether or not they transfer their accounts from New Plymouth to Hawera. The change will only be made on the application of the depositor on the proper form of notice to transfer, accompanied by the pass book. No fee will be charged. Depositors will be subjected to as little inconvenience as possible, but will necessarily be deprived ol the opportunity to operate on their accounts for a few days while the transfer is being effected. All applications to transfer should be in the hands of the postmaster, Hawera. on October 1, or as soon after as possible. The arrangements will continue for the convenience of those depositors who do not desire their accounts- transferred to Hawera, or who desire to open accounts at that office available for use throughout the New Plymouth postal district.

Any further information required concerning the system should be obtained from the postmaster, Hawera.
