NATIONS

The Assembly debated an unofficial .^resolution moved by an Indian member •in favour of the appointment of a committee to consider the question of the of the financial grant to ' the League of Nations as a protest ; -against the of Indians in * ■-Mandated territories and the Pacific Islands. Te leaders of the Nationalists --and Labourites, both, former representatives at the League, and other members, strongly opposed the resolution, • stressing the usoiiilness of the League, -and pointing out that recent labour legislation in India, was largely due to ' the efforts of tae international labour I forming part of the machinery of the League. It was considered that the resolution was prema- { cture and misconceived and that the interests of coloured races were likely to .'suffer if India- withdrew from the: ...League.
