T" HELP THE BLIND! r There are 600 Blind people in New Zealand, and from 20 to 25 people go blind annually. To help the Civilian Blind to Help Themselves the Diggers, who had recived so much benefit from 1 lie work of the late Sir Arthur Pearson, $■ inaugurated the scheme, which is now in process of fulfil- ' 2 ment, to raise a sum of £45,000 throughout New Zealand. 77 With the Government subsidy this will furnish a fund of "" £100,000 —the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund—the income from which will provide for the after-care of the Civilian Blind of the Dominion. Remember: It is no use training a blind man only to turn him out in a world of darkness and say to him: ; "Now go ahead and do what you can." He has to be 'I established in business and home, and watched over for * the remainder of his days, and to give him occupation is £. to give him happiness. Over £30,000 has been raised in pv various parts of the Dominion, and residents of ; KAPONGA AND DISTRICT .< are now asked to do their share. It has been decided to ask the residents of Kaponga £ Town District and that portion of the ■ Eltham County \\ to the west of, and including, the Duthie Koad, „/. and that portion of the Stratford County to the 7 west'of, but not including, the Hastings Road, to make ';. voluntary contributions, which will be received at—• ": Town Board Office, Kaponga; ' ■ * Bank of New Zealand, Kapenga; Q, T-'1": Bank of New South Wales, Kaponga; "■ ''■''■%:. :-"-\ : The Store, Awatuna; ' The Store, Kiverlea; "■";.:" The Dairy Factory, Mahoe. He knows the greatest need of the Blind, and he says: "To the Blind Occupation is Happiness," and he-also says "Every Shilling is another Ray of Light in the Darkness." As representatives of our district we issue this appeal confident that our people will not fall behind those of other parts of the Dominion who have generously supported this noble cause. R, G. COOK, , '. Chairman Kaponga Town Board. W^ A. V. TAIT, M. BARKER, '' f" Riding Reps., Eltham County Council. T. R, ANDERSON, Riding Rep., Stratford County Council. LIGHTEN THEIR DARKNESS!
