WANGANUI RACES—SECOND DAY.
(BY TELEGKAPH —PKEBS ASSOCIATION.) WANGANUI, May 20. The sky was overcast for the concluding day of the Wanganui JocKey Club's winter meeting. Light rain fell during the afternoon, and the going was a bit holding. There was a large attendance. The totalisator to-day handled £33,716, against £33,503 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £62,101, against £60,889 last year. Results: Balgownie Hack Handicap—Silver San (C. Reed) 1, Kaotane 2, Megan 3. Also started: Birkenella, Sunny Vale, Country Life, Left, Pirouette, Ribbonwork, Chestforte, Flying Planet. Won by a length and a half, a length and j a half between second and third. Time, 1.2 1-5. Rata Hack Hurdles—Militaire (H. McSweeney) 1, The Curragh 2, Nukumai 3. Also started: Tempo (loit its rider), Lady Hill, Savory, First Born, Husker, Naughty, Complimentary, Empyrean. Won by two lengths, six lengths between second and third. Time, 2.50 3-5. May Hurdles—En Route (H. McSweeney) 1, Vagabond 2, Mervotia 3. Also started: Gladful (bracketed with Vagabond), Ruddy, omplex, Gold Star, White Ranger, Banogue. Won by three lengths, a long neck between second and third. Time, 3.21 2-5. Grandstand Steeplechase—Ranui (A. Tricklebank) 1, First Line 2, Temaire 3. Also started: Oakleigh, Whipcord, Silent Dick. The winner led all the way, and won by four lengths, five lengths' between second and third. Time, 5.8 1-5. Empire Handicap—Rouen (C. Reed) 1. Zircon 2, Kareao 3. Also started: | Kinsem, Tame Fox, Quest, Boomerday, i Correspondent, Demos, Amber Tips, I Crucelle, Lochson, Lady Kotiripo, i Roman. Won by a long neck, a length ■ between second and third.
