SILENT HUSBAND.
WIFE GRANTED DECREE

LONDON, May 18.
Mrs Ada Diver was granted a divorce against her husband, who had not spoken a word to her. for three years, though they lived in the same house. The Judge accepted the grounds of desertion, saying he thought it was proved by the fact that respondent intentionally denied his wife everything she was entitled to.
The wife gave evidence that Diver
sat at the table at the mid-day meal every day for three years, never once speaking. She asked him the reason for his silence, whereupon, without answering, he rose and tried to strangle her.
The Judge: Do you mean to tell me that not a word passed in the house? The wife: Not a single remark. The Judge: Did he ever »oniplain about anything? The wife: Never. The Judge: He just aits and eats in silence ? The wife: Yes. Then he goes out
and sleeps away. Evidence was also given of the huaband's misconduct.
